Chapters 12, 13, & 14

Last weeks presentations were definitely memorable! The whole class start to finish was awesome! I learned so much from that one class which was really good because it ended up helping me out so much this past weekend while I was putting on a retreat for my organization.

I definitely took away a ton of knowledge, especially about the use of good humor and the importance of transitions. During the retreat I ran while I was in the middle of a debrief I noticed that I was losing the group in what I was saying, because I was not being clear at all! With a little humor about the use of all of my "um's" (which was at least 15 in a 5 minute span, a COM majors nightmare) I was able to laugh at my self but also refocus myself and the group about the point I was trying to make. It was at that point I recognized "hey I just used humor" and I was really excited to share that with Lindsey during our break!

I also paid extra attention to the transitions that I used. Typically I move to topic to topic with little connection because I believed that the group would understand at the end of the activities and I was frustrated when they didn't! This retreat was so different! Everyone was focused and understood what was going on just by use of transitions and creating the "what" and the "why"!

I am so thankful for having gone over everything group 3 did on Thursday because not only did I benefit from it greatly but so did my organization!!
